Strap style matters:

• Single-Strap (Backpack Style): Our most popular choice. Easiest to put on and take off—great for cooperative hens. Some determined hens can learn to remove it.
• Double-Strap (Cross-Body): Designed for “Houdini” hens and free-rangers. Much harder to remove on their own, but expect an adjustment period.

The “Backwards Circus” (Double-Strap Warning):
If you choose the double-strap, be prepared: hens often walk backwards, high-step, or roll around when you first put it on. This is normal. They are just reacting to the feeling of straps under their wings. Give treats, time, and patience—they almost always settle.

The “Hen Freeze” is normal:
When first wearing any new saddle, hens may freeze, hunch, or walk backwards. Don’t panic—this is a natural reaction. Most hens adjust within minutes to a few hours with calm handling and rewards.

Pro tip: Put the saddle on at night while she is roosting. She will wake up wearing it and is usually much less stressed.
